Economic inequality is growing across our nation. Here in JP, we see how hard it is for people to live on low wages — even with 2 or 3 jobs. We see small businesses struggle as chains gain a foothold. We see neighbors pushed out by rising rents and condoization. And we see the impact all this has on the young people growing up in a quickly-changing environment.
Yet as inequality is growing, so is the struggle to challenge and reverse it. What can we do right here in Jamaica Plain? At the JP Inequality Forum on April 9, residents will gather for a panel discussion and participatory break-out groups where we’ll discuss local action steps to raise wages and change policies that perpetuate disparities.
