Imagine Chinatown 2030
Friday, May 15th, 12:00PM @ Chinatown Park at Chinatown Gate, Boston
Community activists will spread out a canvass map of Chinatown and encourage community members to share their opinions and ideas about how to stabilize Chinatown’s future. Chinatown is feeling the effects of adding nearly 3,000 units of luxury housing; this week a developer applied to demolish two historic brick row houses. With scores of tenants facing eviction or displacement, Chinatown needs protective zoning to stabilize its future.
Picket to support Hotel Workers
Friday, May 15th, 3:30PM – 5:30PM @ Back Bay Hilton Hotel, 40 Dalton St. Boston (near the Prudential and Hynes MBTA Stops)
Hotel workers at the Wyndham Beacon Hill and Back Bay Hilton continue to fight for respect and justice at work. They are seeking a fair process towards deciding on unionization free from harassment and intimidation from management. Please come out and join them on the picket lines. Community and solidarity support is energizing! Join these workers for whatever your schedule allows — 15 minutes or the full two hours.
Save jobs for janitors at Tufts University
Saturday, May 16th, 12:00PM @ Davis Square, Somerville
Tufts university is planning to eliminate 35 janitorial jobs. Let’s stand in solidarity with Tufts janitors and the students who just ended a hunger strike in order to stop the administration from cutting these jobs. Join janitors, students, and faculty at Tufts, as well as the Somerville and Medford City Councils, to demand that Tufts make no cuts to the janitorial staff until DTZ and the union representing the janitors renegotiate their contract in July of 2016.
